Read the Voice helps people take part in conversations by turning speech into readable text.
Provider and app licence
The service is provided by Ladislav Hrbacek. Contact: ladik33+readthevoice@gmail.com. The iOS/iPadOS app is licensed under the Apple Standard EULA. The terms below explain the operation of the Read the Voice service and purchased transcription time; they do not replace Apple’s licence or limit mandatory consumer rights.
Using the service
Hold the microphone button while speaking and release it to request a transcription. Internet access and permission to process audio are required. Transcription is generated by AI and can contain mistakes or omissions. Check important details with the speaker. The app is a communication aid, not an emergency service or a guarantee of accurate medical, legal or other consequential information.
Your account and free time
Sign in with Apple to use your own transcription balance and buy time. One introductory allocation of 20 minutes is available per eligible Apple-linked account. It cannot be repeatedly claimed by deleting and recreating an account. Keep your device and Apple account secure.
Buying and using minutes
Time packs are one-time consumable in-app purchases, not subscriptions. The pack size, any bonus minutes and the price in your currency are shown before Apple confirms the purchase. Minutes are credited after Apple’s transaction is verified and are linked to your Read the Voice account. Sign into the same Apple-linked account to access its server balance on another device.
We charge the actual duration of the recording, including silence. Waiting for transcription or transferring a recording does not itself consume time. Failed transcription requests do not deduct minutes. Retries of the same request do not charge twice. Purchased minutes have no scheduled expiry while your account and the service remain active. Minutes are service usage rights, not money, and cannot be transferred or cashed out except where required by law.
Tandem mode
The receiving screen’s account pays for recordings sent by approved guests. Guests do not need their own purchases or account. Approve only people and devices you trust; approval permits future reconnection until removed. You can remove paired devices or turn off Tandem in the app. Both devices need the app open and nearby connectivity; transcription still requires internet access.
Refunds and purchase problems
Apple handles purchase billing and refund requests. To request a refund, open Purchase refunds from the time balance in the app, or visit reportaproblem.apple.com; eligibility and approval are determined by Apple and applicable law. Contact us if a verified purchase has not appeared in your balance.
If Apple refunds a pack, its credited minutes are reversed. If some of those minutes were already used, the displayed balance cannot go below zero, but future credits may first offset the reversed amount. A reversed refund restores the relevant credit after verification. This accounting does not limit your statutory rights.
Privacy and respectful use
Our Privacy policy explains processing of recordings, accounts and purchases. Inform participants about transcription and obtain any permission required for recording. Do not use the service to secretly monitor others, infringe their rights, commit fraud or disrupt the service.
Availability and account deletion
The service depends on internet connectivity and third-party systems and may occasionally be unavailable. Contact support about persistent failures or lost minutes. You can delete your account in Settings. Deletion disables access to remaining minutes and does not automatically refund purchases. If you want a refund, request it through Apple before deleting your account. We may restrict misuse or fraud; applicable consumer rights remain unaffected.
Changes and questions
Material changes to the service or these terms will be communicated where appropriate. New pack prices apply to future purchases shown in Apple’s purchase screen.
